Assisted living communities come in either apartment style living or smaller board & care homes. Assisted living means assistance with bathing, dressing, medication, incontinence, transferring, etc. Larger Assisted Living Communities are ideal for more active seniors.

Board & care homes are private homes modified to meet state requirements. These smaller homes are especially good for seniors with greater care needs.

Memory Care

Many communities offer special memory care programs and secure "neighborhoods" allowing them to care for seniors afflicted with dementia. Typically, staff has special dementia training.

Memory care can take place in a large community or smaller care home.
